The Interdepartmental Research Center on the Adriatic and the Mediterranean is a multidisciplinary center, devoted to research and training. It aims to act as a catalyst and promoter of the research activities carried out in the University of Macerata on topics related to the Adriatic and Mediterranean region and to the neighboring geographical areas (so called Enlarged Mediterranean), based on the following modalities:
  • promoting the study of the historical, juridical, social, political, economic and cultural aspects that link an area that since ancient times has represented a space for meeting, exchanges and dialogue among civilizations;
  • paying attention to the current role of Italy and the European Union in the Adriatic area and in the Mediterranean;
  • paying attention to the different forms of cooperation at sub-regional level, with a special focus on the development of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian region (EUSAIR);
  • activating collaboration with national and foreign institutions, bodies and associations, both public and private, sharing the research interests of the Center;
  • providing specialized advice to the national and local institutions, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and private entities operating in the research areas of interest for the Center.
