About us

The CiRAM was established on November 6, 2019 by Rectoral Decree No. 390. It aims to act as a catalyst and promoter of research activities carried out in the University on issues related to the Adriatic and Mediterranean region and surrounding geographical areas, based on the following methods:

  • promoting the study of the historical, juridical, social, political, economic and cultural aspects that link an area that since ancient times has represented a space for meeting and exchanges between different civilizations;
  • paying attention to the current role of Italy and the European Union in the Adriatic area and in the Mediterranean;
  • paying attention to the different forms of cooperation at sub-regional level, with a special focus on the development of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian region (EUSAIR);
  • activating collaboration with national and foreign institutions, bodies and associations, both public and private, sharing the research interests of the Center;
  • providing specialized advice to the national and local institutions, non-governmental organizations and private entities operating in the research areas of interest for the Center.

The activities of CiRAM are based on the use of an interdisciplinary approach and the pursuit of cognitive, descriptive ("basic research"), educational and training purposes.

The objectives of the Center are achieved through the following activities:

  • promotion of individual and group studies and research;
  • promotion of the participation of the teachers belonging to the Center in calls for national and international research projects;
  • promotion of cooperation agreements with national and foreign institutions, bodies and associations, both public and private, operating in the research areas of interest of the Center;
  • organization of conferences, cycles of seminars, exhibitions, training courses, training courses and Summer Schools;
  • production of publications, including electronic and open source publications;
  • carrying out dissemination activities concerning the results of study and research activities;
  • promotion of events related to the themes of interest of the Center;
  • promotion of scholarships, PhD programmes and research fellows;
  • collaboration between teachers belonging to the Center in the supervision activities as tutors of theses.
